Chief Deputy Frank Losat began his law enforcement career in 1990 as a state trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol before joining the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in 1994.

With more than three decades of service, Chief Deputy Losat has provided strategic leadership across multiple operational and investigative areas, including Patrol, Street Crimes, Field Training Supervisor, Investigations, Narcotics, and the Special Investigations Division. He spent 11 years in the Homicide Section and later served as Major of the Criminal Investigations Division, overseeing Homicide and other person-related crimes—highlighting his long-standing commitment to complex investigations and victim-focused service. His dedication to homicide investigations extends beyond HCSO—he is an active member and currently serves as President of the International Homicide Investigators Association, helping to advance investigative practices nationwide.

Most recently, as Colonel, he led the Department of Administrative Services, guiding agency-wide strategic oversight and operational support. In his current role as Chief Deputy for Support Operations, he oversees the essential infrastructure that sustains the Sheriff’s Office’s daily law enforcement and detention operations.

Chief Deputy Losat holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Saint Leo University and is a graduate of both the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Senior Leadership Program and the Executive Institute for Police Management. He also serves on the board of Ibis Healthcare.

A longtime Hillsborough County resident, he is proudly married with two grown sons—both of whom serve as deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
