David Thatcher, Captain

Captain Thatcher began his career with #teamHCSO in 2002 as a patrol deputy in District II. He served as a patrol deputy, Field Training deputy, General Offense and District Intelligence Unit detective, and was an instructor for the Information Services Division. As a supervisor, Captain Thatcher has held a variety of assignments including Patrol, Field Training Supervisor, Traffic Unit, Motor Unit, Operations Corporal for the Department of Patrol Services, and Street Crimes. Captain Thatcher is currently assigned to the Training Division.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science from Florida State University and a Master of Public Administration and Policy from American University. He is a graduate of the 145th Administrative Officers Course at the Southern Police Institute of the University of Louisville. Captain Thatcher and his wife Kelly have four daughters.
