The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation in Riverview.
On June 22, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the HCSO Communications Center got a call about a suspicious article found on the 9800 block of Riverview Drive. When deputies arrived, they discovered it to be the body of a deceased person.
"It is concerning to hear about how this individual was found," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our detectives are working to identify the person, find answers for their family, and if foul play is involved, they will employ their skills and training to find those responsible."
At this time, it is unclear what led to this person's death. We will wait for the Medical Examiner's Office to do their work in identifying the body and in determining the cause of death.
