HCSO hosting International Homicide Investigators Association

Homicide investigators from across the country are spending this week in Tampa.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is hosting the International Homicide Investigators Association (IHIA) for the IHIA Basic Homicide Investigations Course.

Investigators are learning the best practices for managing a crime scene, processing evidence, solving difficult homicide investigations and much more.

There are 37 investigators attending this course, including those from 16 jurisdictions in Florida.

"Investigating homicides and bringing criminals to justice is one of the most important roles of your Sheriff's Office. We are thankful that we have some of the best professionals in this field working for HCSO, and we are proud to offer training to agencies across the country this week," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This course is not only a chance for investigators to learn the latest in their field, but also to network. That networking can be critical to solving difficult crimes and keeping all of our communities safe."
