The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man following a shooting resulting in serious injuries.
On December 27, 2024, at approximately 11:07 p.m., the HCSO Communications Center received a call reporting a shooting at The Alley at Southshore, located at 10221 Big Bend Road in Riverview.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male with upper-body trauma.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Through investigative means, detectives determined that an altercation occurred, during which Christopher Smith, 18, shot the victim.
Smith was arrested and is now facing the following charges:
• 1st Degree Attempted Murder with Firearm with Discharge with Great Bodily Harm
• Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm Deadly Weapon
• Tampering with Physical Evidence
• Carrying Concealed Firearm
The victim is a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agent who was off duty at the time of the shooting.
“This suspect’s reckless actions have left the victim seriously injured, and he will now be held accountable for endangering the safety of others. I commend the determination of our detectives, as well as ATF agents, in locating the suspect,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “The victim, a brave individual, was trying to disperse a fight because his sense of duty extends beyond work. Our thoughts remain with him as he recovers from his injuries.”
