A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputy is under arrest for video voyeurism following an investigation by the Tampa Police Department.

On May 6, 2024, the Tampa Police Department began investigating a cyber tip, which led them to discover Justin DiBiase, 26, a deputy in the DUI Unit, illegally recorded victims in the bathroom of his residence in June 2021.

Through investigative means, detectives determined a camera was placed in the bathroom, pointing in the direction of the toilet and shower, recording explicit videos of two victims.

"I am disgusted and deeply disappointed by the actions of this individual. This is not only a violation of trust towards the victims but also a profound betrayal of the badge," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Deputies are sworn to protect and serve our community, but behind closed doors, he was a criminal himself. We hold our deputies to the highest standards, and when one falls so far from those standards, it is our duty to ensure they face the full weight of their consequences."

On August 22, 2024, DiBiase turned himself in at the Orient Road Jail after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody without incident.

DiBiase is now charged with:

  • Video Voyeurism (Defendant 19 or Older) (x3)

DiBiase was hired in March 2021 and had no significant disciplinary history.

According to Florida State Statute 119, DiBiase's photo is exempt from public dissemination.
