On March 20, 2026, #teamHCSO Marine Unit partnered with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the United States Border Patrol for a joint shrimp boat operation focused on commercial vessel inspections, including resource violations, Turtle Excluder Device (TED) compliance, and licensing requirements.
During the operation, two vessels were inspected. One individual was identified as being in the United States unlawfully and was taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol. Both vessels were also found to be in violation of multiple federal regulations, resulting in citations and written warnings issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
