The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office conducted "Operation Turkey Day," a collaborative, multi-agency effort aimed at preventing impaired driving from Wednesday, November 27, 2024, through Sunday, November 30, 2024.
“Thanksgiving is about coming together with family and friends. No one should have to worry about their safety on the roads during such a special time,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our dedicated DUI Unit worked tirelessly to ensure that impaired drivers were taken off the streets, helping to protect everyone in our community.”
During the operation, HCSO deputies, along with the Tampa Police Department and Florida Highway Patrol, conducted traffic stops and monitored for drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs. Their efforts led to significant enforcement results, contributing to a safer holiday weekend.
"I want to express my deep thanks to our deputies and partner agencies for their tireless work this past weekend. Many of them sacrificed time with their families to ensure the safety of others," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "While Thanksgiving weekend is over, the holiday season is just beginning. I urge everyone to make responsible choices. Together, we can keep this holiday season safe for everyone.”
