UPDATE: December 9, 2024, 9 p.m.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested an individual for homicide following a death investigation.
On December 9, 2024, at 8:22 a.m., HCSO's Communications Center received a call from Russell Antonio Moore, 36, who made comments regarding his mental health.
Deputies were dispatched to Moore's residence in the 8000 block of Beaty Grove Drive in Tampa, where they met with Moore and interviewed him. During that interview, he made threatening statements about his mother, Shambray Lavern Levy, 54. Deputies located Levy deceased inside the residence with trauma to her upper body.
Moore was arrested at the scene and charged with the following:
- Murder in the First Degree (Premeditated)
- Tampering with Physical Evidence Relating to a Capital Felony
"This is an incredibly heartbreaking and tragic situation for the family and everyone involved," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our deputies acted swiftly to investigate, and an arrest has been made. Our hearts go out to the loved ones affected by this unimaginable loss, and we will do everything we can to support them during this difficult time."

On December 9, 2024, at 8:22 a.m., HCSO's Communications Center received a call from a male subject who made comments regarding his mental health.
Deputies were dispatched to the subject's residence in the 8000 block of Beaty Grove Drive in Tampa, where they located a deceased adult female inside.
This is an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the general public.
