The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a student following a tip that a firearm was brought on campus at Armwood High School.
On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 11:05 a.m., an HCSO School Resource deputy assigned to Armwood High School received a tip about a student potentially being in possession of a gun at the school.
An administrative search revealed that Salet Arias-Gort, 15, had a handgun in her book bag.
Arias-Gort was arrested and charged with the following:
- Minor in Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm on School Property
"It's heartbreaking and completely unacceptable that a student would ever bring a weapon onto school grounds. Actions like these create unnecessary fear and undermine the trust and safety we strive to build in our schools every day," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We stand firm in our commitment to keep our students and staff safe and will continue to address such incidents with the seriousness they deserve."
Any further information on this case will come from the Public Affairs Office.
