The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office invites media representatives to attend a prestigious promotion ceremony today honoring dozens of agency members as they advance into leadership roles.
Sheriff Chad Chronister will honor these individuals as they are promoted to the ranks of Colonel, Major, Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, and Corporal.

Among the promotions are the following executive staff members:
Colonel David Arthur
Colonel David Arthur was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Pennsylvania. He started in law enforcement as a Reserve Police Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. Colonel Arthur began his full-time career with HCSO in 2002 while assigned to District 3 patrol. Throughout his tenure, he has worked on numerous assignments to include: Street Crimes Unit, Warrants Section, Sheriff's Targeted Area Response Squad, and the Training Division.
Colonel Arthur also served as a member of SWAT for over ten years. Prior to his promotion to Major, he was assigned as the Deputy Division Commander for the Homeland Security Division.
Colonel Arthur is a combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a life member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida, and a Master of Arts Degree in Homeland Security from American Military University.
Colonel Preston Hollis
Colonel Preston Hollis commands the Department of Support Services of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. A Tampa native, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Florida State University in 2000 and graduated from the Florida Police Corps in 2001.
He began his HCSO career the same year, serving seven years in Patrol and three as a Field Training Deputy before becoming a Detective in 2007.
His investigative experience spans domestic violence, crimes against children, homicide, and Professional Standards/Internal Affairs.
Promoted through the ranks from Corporal to Major, Col. Hollis has led Field Training, Professional Standards, and Criminal Investigations Division teams, earning a reputation for fairness, integrity, and results-driven leadership.
