The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation surrounding the death of an inmate.
On April 24, 2023, the Tampa Police Department investigated a murder in their jurisdiction where a suspect named Cory Brown, 47, was brought to Tampa General Hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Tampa Police Department arrested Brown for 1st Degree Pre-Meditated Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Armed Burglary of a Structure with Battery. He was remote-booked and monitored at TGH by HCSO Detention staff.
On May 1, 2023, Brown was declared deceased by TGH staff. No foul play is suspected at this time. Brown's next of kin were notified of his death.
