Work closely with the Graphic Artist assisting with day-to-day print production projects, pre-press, and finishing.
Note: Depending on assigned responsibilities, employees may perform some or all of the duties below.
Operate and troubleshoot digital presses; conduct quality control from start to finish according to work orders.
Engage in some finish work including, but not limited to, cutting, scoring, mounting, laminating, copying, and booklet making.
Replenish digital press consumables and change parts as necessary for its routine operation; stock supplies as necessary.
Receive and organize deliveries; package printed material in cartons and prepare them for delivery.
Inventory paper, printer supplies, adhesives, and other necessary materials; place orders with vendors per instruction of the manager.
Read and understand job tickets making effective use of materials and equipment to complete printing with minimal waster; handle multiple projects while maintaining scheduled deadlines.
Perform other related duties as required.
Working knowledge of basic layout principles.
Working knowledge using the Macintosh platform.
Working knowledge of PDF workflow using Fiery Command Workstation or similar software.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, to effectively complete custom, generic, and template print requests.
Knowledge of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office products and suppliers.
Skill in solving problems.
Ability to demonstrate basic math proficiency including fractions and ability to read a ruler.
Ability to lift cases of paper, supplies, etc. up to 30 pounds.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
A high school diploma or possession of a GED certificate; and
One year of experience in print production.
One to three years of experience as a digital press operator.
Attendance at the specified Sheriff's Office work location is required.
Depending on assignment, employees may be required to possess a valid Florida Driver License at time of employment. Driving history will be thoroughly reviewed and may be grounds for disqualification.
No visible tattoos on face, head, and neck. Tattoos determined to take away from the professional appearance of the Sheriff’s Office must be covered with an appropriate white, black, or neutral covering.
No illegal drug sale within lifetime.
No illegal drug use within the past 36 months. No marijuana use within the last 12 months.
No felony convictions within lifetime.
No misdemeanor convictions involving perjury, false statement, or domestic violence within lifetime.
No dishonorable discharge from any branch of the United States Armed Forces, the United States Coast Guard, National Guard, or Reserve Forces.
Successful completion of a background investigation including criminal, reference, employment, and neighborhood checks; polygraph; medical evaluation; and drug screening.
One to three years of experience as a digital press operator.
