Deputies are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect listed above – Algernon Maurice West.  West is wanted in connection with a battery of Wal-Mart Loss Prevention Officer Kimberly Price.

On December 4, 2009 the suspects (Eunessa Lawson and Algernon West) entered the Wal-Mart at 11110 Causeway Blvd. and attempted to purchase an $898.00 laptop using checks stolen from a burglary in Lakeland.  When the suspects were asked for identification, they began to make a disturbance and loss prevention walked them to the front of the store to talk to them.  When loss prevention again asked for their identification, Algernon West fled out the door with loss prevention officer, Kimberly Price pursuing him in an attempt to get a vehicle tag number.  Suspect Eunessa Lawson struck loss prevention officer, James Powell who able to detain her inside the store.   Price chased West through the parking lot where West entered a Black Chevrolet Avalanche pick up truck.  West pulled out of his parking space, turned toward the victim (Price) and intentionally struck her.  After she fell to the ground, West ran over her with both right side tires.  The victim was transported to Tampa General Hospital.

Anyone with any information reference the whereabouts of Algernon West is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
