Why/How:

Deputies were responding to a domestic related call at 4733 Waters Avenue West. The caller, Loiseaus’ girlfriend stated that the suspect had come to her residence, battered her and had taken her van without her permission.
The first responding deputy spotted a van matching the description of the stolen van at the 7-11 on Waters and Grady Avenue. When the deputy attempted to read the license plate the van fled. The deputy was able to catch up with the vehicle to confirm the license number and driver description as that of the domestic violence suspect. The van pulled into a parking lot at the corner of 4350 Waters Avenue West. The deputy pulled in and notified dispatch of the location. At that time the van fled leaving the deputy still sitting in the parking lot. Within moments the traffic crash involving Deputy Gregory Wehr occurred. Deputy Wehr was southbound on Anderson Road at the intersection of Waters Avenue stopped for a red light. Loiseau was westbound on Waters avenue approaching the intersection, drove northbound into the southbound lanes and struck Deputy Wehr’s patrol vehicle. Loiseau exited his vehicle and fled on foot north on Anderson Road. Deputy Wehr exited his vehicle and chased the suspect, apprehending the suspect approximately 200 yards north of the crash scene.
Deputy Gregory Wehr was transported to a local hospital by deputies to be medically cleared. Loiseau was taken into custody and transported to Orient Road Jail. |
