Approximately 1 month ago, HCSO detectives began receiving information of a Hispanic male attempting to entice females into his vehicle near bus stops throughout Hillsborough County while driving a white pick up truck.
On October 6 2009, Detectives learned the identity of the suspect after he battered an adult female who accepted a ride. During that investigation, Detectives contacted the Tampa Police Department and learned that they had a similar case where the suspect battered a 14 year old female after enticing her into his vehicle.
HCSO detectives set up surveillance on the suspects and quickly gathered enough intelligence to place an undercover female detective at a bus stop near the suspect's job site. As the suspect left his job, he noticed the undercover deputy and pulled his truck over to talk to her. The suspect tried several times to entice the deputy into his vehicle with promise of drugs and alcohol. The deputy told him several times she was only 16 years old and did not want a ride. The suspect then offered the deputy $30.00 in exchange for sex. The suspect was then arrested without further incident.
HCSO believes the suspects may be involved in similar incidents in Pasco and Pinellas Counties is asking for any witnesses or additional victims that may have had contact with him to contact HCSO Detective Gary Harris at 813-290-2365 or call Crime Stoppers 1-800-873-TIPS.
Individuals wishing to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477) or report online at www.crimestoppers.com
