According to a witness on Saturday, September 5th, 2009, 3 suspects arrived at 7406 Williams Road in a truck pulling a horse trailer where 8 horses were pastured. The suspects talked to the witness while in the process of catching and loading 5 of the 8 horses into a trailer with the assistance of 2 other horses they brought with them. The other 3 horses ran away and could not be caught. The witness did not know the horses were being stolen.
On Wednesday, September 9th 2009, a witness saw one of the horses that was left behind in the pasture with a rope around its neck and concerned for its safety called the owner. Once the owner arrived it was discovered that the other horses that were taken away in the trailer on Saturday were in fact stolen from the pasture with out the owner’s permission.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was then called by the owner to report the horses as being stolen. Upon further investigation deputies located an area in the fence that had been cut and taken down allowing the suspects access to the pasture.
A description of the horse is as follows:
1 – Stout Palomino gelding horse approximately 1300 pounds 1 - Shetland pony stallion chocolate brown in color flaxen mane and tail 1 - Dark bay mare with an injured hip and walks with a limp 1 – Blue Roan Paint or could be considered flea bitten gray mare with large dark spots. 1 – Paintaloosa mare described as being brown and white in the front half and small brown spots on the buttocks area on a white blanket with 4 white stockings
Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 813-247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477. |
