On August 27, 2009 at approximately 1:05 p.m., the suspect entered the pharmacy area of the Publix Supermarket located at 11109 Wintrop Market Street in Riverview and announced to the witnesses (pharmacy personnel)  “This is a hold up” and demanded the witness give him oxycodone, diazepam and valium.  The witness did not comply and the suspect grabbed several bottles of prescription medication and began to exit the pharmacy.   Witnesses pursued the suspect outside the store and the suspect brandished a hammer and threatened one of the employees.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy Bruce Crumpler and Detective Nancy Hager were in the parking lot at the time of the robbery and observed the suspect fleeing from witnesses and captured him without incident.

A search of the suspects vehicle uncovered drug paraphernalia and an unlabeled prescription bottle containing prednisone for which the suspect did not have a prescription.
