Why/How:

This morning between 9:50 and 10:37 a.m., the suspect Temoi Ford was observed driving a green Chrysler Van through the parking lot of the Bayou Crossing Apartment (10408 Zachery Circle in Riverview) complex by the mother of his child, Renita Jones. Jones lives at the complex and has an active Domestic Violence Injunction against the suspect who is also on felony probation for Aggravated Stalking against Renita Jones. The suspect willfully violated the injunction and his probation by repeatedly harassing and following Jones. Deputy Crystal McClelland observed Temoi Ford driving the Chrysler Van and attempted a traffic stop at which time the suspect began driving recklessly, fleeing and attempting to elude deputies. A traffic stop was conducted during which the suspect stuck the right rear quarter panel of Deputy McClelland's marked patrol vehicle. Deputy McClelland exited her vehicle to effect an arrest of the suspect during which the suspect intentionally backed into another Sheriff's Office vehicle, ramming the front end of Detective Kevin Cooper's vehicle while he was still inside, displacing the vehicle approximately 8 feet. The suspect then drove forward and rammed Cpl. Don Balaban's patrol vehicle in the right fender in an attempt to flee. During this time, the suspect intentionally attempted to run over Deputy Crystal McClelland who had to leap out of the way of the suspect’s oncoming vehicle that was within one foot of striking her. The suspect continued to flee, again striking Cpl. Balaban's vehicle approximately two more times and attempted to strike the Corporal's vehicle at least three other times during the pursuit. The suspect disregarded several stop signs, traffic signals and operated the vehicle in total disregard for the safety of the public. The suspect knowingly operated the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. The suspect was stopped in the area of Falkenburg Road and Progress Village Blvd. and was also found to be in possession of marijuana.
None of the deputies were injured during the incident. Ford was taken into custody and charged with the above charges.
