The victim and suspect (boyfriend and girlfriend) reside together at the Foxcroft apartments. Sometime overnight they got into an argument. At approximately 11:00 a.m. the suspect went to the Palm Springs Police Department where she told authorities that she shot someone at her home in Tampa and that the victim is possibly deceased.
At approximately 11:08 a.m. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is notified of the shooting and deputies responded to the Foxcroft apartments. The first deputy on scene entered the apartment to conduct a welfare check on the victim. The deputy discovered a deceased male inside the apartment. At that time, detectives had to obtain a search warrant to re-enter the apartment.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. detectives entered the residence and began processing the scene. The victim was discovered in the living room of the apartment. He suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
The victim’s next of kin was notified this evening. And a warrant was obtained for the arrest of Venecia Depaula which was being detained by the Palm Springs Police Department. Depaula was charged with 2nd Degree Murder at approximately 8:30 p.m. and she is booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
It is unknown when Depaula will be extradited back to Hillsborough County.
