Members of the Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Marquist Polite this morning at approximately 9:00 a.m. at the address of 203 W. 26th Avenue in Tampa.  Polite was wanted on a Federal warrant issued in March of 2009 for Distribution of Cocaine and in connection with battery of a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper.

On July 3, 2009, at approximately 5:56 p.m. a Trooper observed a vehicle traveling on State Road 60 with the right front passenger not wearing a seat belt.  The trooper conducted a traffic stop on Brandon Town Center Blvd., just south of State Road 60.  While on the traffic stop the right front male passenger, became very nervous stating he did not have any identification on him.  The male exited the vehicle, on his own.  The trooper began explaining to the male why he had stopped their vehicle.  The suspect could not produce any identification or social security number, all the time becoming more nervous.  The suspect attacked the trooper and as a result of the violent attack the troopers radio was disabled and the trooper sustained a laceration on his left elbow and right palm.  The suspect fled the scene.   Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded and assisted in the search with negative results.

Today, July 8, 2009 at approximately 9:00 a.m. members of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force located Polite and he was taken into custody without incident.
