Sheriff’s Deputies Plan 4th Of July Boaters Safety Initiative

During the 4th of July weekend, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office will have Marine Deputies out in full force enforcing “Boating Under the Influence”.  Deputies will also look for reckless operation of motor vessels, over loaded boats and conducting safety checks to ensure that each member on the boat has available to them a proper US Coast Guard approved flotation device.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages family fun while operating a boat but we also request boaters maintain a responsible safe behavior. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office wants boaters to make sure “if you’re planning on consuming alcohol, plan on having a designated operator that’s qualified to safely operate the boat”.

First offense for Boating Under the Influence can send the boat operator to jail and cost up to $500 dollars in fines. Please Boat Responsibly.
