This morning at approximately 9:57 a.m., at the direction of Hillsborough Kids, Inc. (HKI)  the Foster parent  of 17 year old  Jasmine Bedwell reported her missing.  According to the Foster parent, Bedwell was last seen at 8:00 p.m.  on Tuesday night and had not been seen since.

Today at approximately 12:20 p.m., in an attempt to locate Bedwell,  a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detective responded to Kimmins Early Head Start Center located at 1502 East 2nd Avenue in Tampa.  While at the center, the detective made contact with Bedwell.  While in the presence of witnesses, when the detective attempted to talk to Bedwell and confirm her safety, Bedwell became belligerent and started yelling and screaming obscenities at the detective.  The detective was trying to calm Bedwell down and explain to her that he was there because of a missing person’s report that had been filed and he needed to detain her until he had a chance to contact her case worker and assure them that she had been located and was safe.  Bedwell continued to scream obscenities and refused to calm down, and tried to pull away from the detective so much so that the detective was forced to take her to the ground,  restrain her with handcuffs and place her in his Sheriff’s Office vehicle until he could make the necessary phone calls.

Bedwell was ultimately released to her Foster parent and a direct file report was written for resisting without violence.
