“Operation Summer Heat”

 

159 persons were arrested (44 felonies and 115 misdemeanors).

 

 

On June 26-27, 2009, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the Tampa
Police Department and the Temple Terrace Police Department conducted
a two day coordinated crime reduction initiative to reduce crime in the
North Tampa area. These agencies recognize people in the community who
are concerned with serious crimes in their everyday lives and,
therefore, will provided a strong visible presence of law enforcement
within selected high crime areas to disrupt criminal activity.

Intelligence was gathered on stolen vehicles, an armed robbery in Tampa PD area, and a home invasion in Temple Terrace. Notable arrests involving HCSO cases included a stabbing suspect, and a robbery suspect.  TTPD arrested a military deserter and TPD arrested a convicted felon in possession of a handgun. Multiple firearms and drugs were also seized.
