Deputies will be handing out informational cards to motorists this morning till 9:30 a.m. in advance of the new state law which makes not wearing a seat belt a primary offense. The new state law goes into effect on June 30, 2009. The state fine is $30 for a violation. In Hillsborough County, the Clerk of the Circuit Court will add fees and costs to the fine for a total of $101.00.
Deputies will distribute cards for our Operation Belts or Else campaign at four intersections:
Bruce B. Downs and Fletcher Avenue
Waters Avenue and Dale Mabry Highway
Bloomingdale Avenue and U.S. Highway 301
Parsons Avenue and State Road 60 |
