On Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. school resource Deputy Otis Collado responded to an unruly student who wanted to fight another student. The deputy took the student to the office and left.  After a few minutes the deputy was summoned to the office again and as the deputy approached the student trying to calm him down the deputy reached out to take the students arm and the student turned and punched the deputy in the mouth and arm.  The deputy then placed the student under arrest and he was handcuffed and placed in the back of the patrol vehicle.  Once inside the vehicle the student proceeded to kick the window of the vehicle. Deputy Ed Ether attempted to open the door and the student kicked the window again and the glass broke shattering glass onto and into the face of Deputy Ed Ether causing cuts to his face. The student was then removed from the vehicle and hobbled. The student was searched and a small bag of marijuana was found in his wallet.

Both deputies received non-life threatening injuries.
