On April 28, 2009, at 7336 Central Park Circle in Tampa, the defendant was in sole custody of the minor victim when the defendant called 911 to report that the victim was unresponsive. The victim was transported to University Community Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  An autopsy was conducted on the victim today, April 29, 2009 at which revealed multiple internal injuries and a head injury that was fatal. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma and the manner of death is homicide.  The injuries were determined by Dr. Mainland with the Medical Examiners Office to have occurred within minutes prior to the 911 call.  Dr. Mainland also determined that the injuries inflicted to the victim were acute.  An interview was conducted with the defendant, post miranda, during which time the defendant stated that the victim was in his custody from approximately 2:20 p.m. to the time he called 911 at 8:11 p.m.   The defendant denied inflicting the listed injuries to the victim.  The defendant is the live in boyfriend of the victim’s mother.

 

The defendant was arrested at the Criminal Investigation Division office at approximately 5:30 p.m. today and charged with First Degree Felony Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse.
