Why/How:

The defendant, Brenda Sue Singer, is a licensed practical nurse who works for health care provider which was hired by a family to care for their 15-month-old son, whose needs round-the-clock medical care due. The defendant arrived at the family’s home on Wednesday evening to care for the child as the parents were going out to visit friends. The parents left around 10:30 p.m. Deputies stopped the defendant in her vehicle around 1 a.m. this morning at Interstate 75 and Morris Bridge Road for suspicion of drunken driving. An investigation determined the defendant’s blood alcohol-level at .314 and .307 (under state law a driver is considered impaired with a BAC of .08)
The parents of the child returned home around 3 a.m. this morning and discovered their child had been left alone.
The defendant was taken to the Orient Road Jail.
