UPDATE – MARCH 10, 2009

 

March 9, 2009 – Amaury Diaz’s blood results were returned and showed that his BAC at the time of the crash was at 0.16.  Diaz was charged with DUI with Serious Bodily Injury and DUI with property damage.

Traffic crash with injuries

February 26, 2009 at 2:25 a.m.
Where:

Lakewood Drive north of Brandon Main Street
Why/How:

 

 

 

The 1994 Hyundai was northbound on Lakewood Drive.  The driver lost control and exited the roadway, struck a tree and light pole.  The passenger was ejected and suffered serious injuries.  She was flown to Tampa General Hospital and is in critical condition.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

 

The investigation continues.
