SWAT Makes Arrest Of Man Wanted For Attempted Murder
HCSO SWAT deputies this afternoon surrounded a residence at 3016 Spillers Avenue and arrested a man wanted for shooting another man this morning in Clair-mel City. Deputies had gone to this residence for a probable cause arrest and the subject would not come out around noon. He surrendered at 2:26 p.m.
Travis Mendez, DOB 7/26/86, of 3105 75th Street North, Tampa, was charged with one count of attempted murder for shooting a man outside a house this morning around 1:30 at 4313 26th Avenue South. Mendez and two others had gone to the address to apparently inquire about money being owed when a fight erupted and Mendez fired a .22-caliber pistol, hitting the victim three times in the back. The victim, Richard Nelson, DOB 5/11/89 of 6111 Manor Drive, Lithia, was in stable condition at St. Joseph's Hospital.
