Deputies responded to a call of a suspicious car in a neighborhood this morning just after 4 a.m. in the Countryway subdivision. A deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspicious one and began to follow it. The driver and two passengers then stopped the vehicle, a 2000 Saturn, and got out and ran. Deputies caught two of them after a foot chase. The third suspect disappeared, and Deputy Richard George and his K9, CJ, were called to the scene. Deputy George and CJ tracked the suspect for about a mile through neighborhoods, along the Upper Tampa Bay Trail and to some bushes on the south side of Waters Avenue near the Upper Tampa Bay Trail. CJ found the suspect hiding in the bushes and apprehended him, allowing the deputy to put handcuffs on the suspect.

The investigation showed the suspects had stolen mail from four mailboxes on Vista Pointe Drive and Eagle Cove Court. The stolen mail was recovered in the Saturn, which belongs to suspect Sean Taylor. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service was summoned to the scene, took possession of the mail and began its own investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation continues.
