Colonel Melissa Moore began her career with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in 1997. She is a native of Tampa, Florida, growing up in the West Tampa area. She served her country honorably and is a veteran of the United States Army.
Colonel Moore is a graduate of Saint Leo University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. She also attended the 74th Southern Police Institute Command Officer's Development Course and is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Brandon.
During her 21-year career, she has worked as a deputy and in various supervisory positions within all Hillsborough County detention facilities. She also served in leadership and management capacities as a Field Training Sergeant, Juvenile Assessment Center Sergeant, the Administrative Lieutenant for Jail Division II and the Deputy Division Commander for Jail Division I.
Colonel Moore has served on the Juvenile Justice Task Force, the JAC Advisory Board and as a mentor at North Tampa Alternative School. Colonel Moore is the mother of a minor son.
