About Position

This role is responsible for coordinating the planning, maintenance, publishing, and optimization of high-quality content across our digital offerings including, but not limited to, the public website, intranet, mobile applications, and internal electronic signage.
 

Duties & Responsibilities

Note: Depending on assigned responsibilities, employees may perform some or all of the duties below.

  • Work with various groups within the organization and assist with the posting or removal of content from various information systems.
  • Help with the design of information architectures to maximize user engagement.
  • Work with content creators to ensure that standards are adhered to.
  • Review statistics in order to communicate with groups the effectiveness of their content.
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure update requests received are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Analyze, report, and act on user feedback.
  • Research ways of enhancing content to increase appeal and usefulness.
  • Create custom content that is useful, accurate, and accessible.
  • Provide user training for Information Services Division (ISD) content management systems.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of content management systems.
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) best practices and keyword placement.
  • Knowledge of social media engagement strategies and best practices.
  • Strong English written and verbal communications skills.
  • Editorial skills with an eye for both the technical and creative aspects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to form productive working relationships.
  • Ability to conduct research into emerging content management technologies.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Ability to track web analytics and report on the results.

Required Minimum Education & Experience

  • A high school diploma or possession of a GED certificate.
  • Five years paid experience in the usage of one or more content management systems (e.g., Kentico, WordPress, Sitefinity, etc.).
  • Five years paid experience managing content development, production, and/or marketing.
OR
  • An associate’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a technical field, marketing, or communication.
  • Four years paid experience in the usage of one or more content management systems (e.g., Kentico, WordPress, Sitefinity, etc.).
  • Four years paid experience managing content development, production, and/or marketing.
OR
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a technical field, marketing, or communication.
  • Three years paid experience in the usage of one or more content management systems (e.g., Kentico, WordPress, Sitefinity, etc.).
  • Three years paid experience managing content development, production, and/or marketing.
OR
  • Three years of experience in a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office ISD position or an agency position that included the role of editor for content on the public website or intranet.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Experience with digital development using HTML5, CSS, and Javascript.
  • Experience with Kentico Content Management System.
  • Experience with photo editing software and graphic design.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Additional Job Requirements

  • Attendance at the specified Sheriff's Office work location is required.
  • Depending on assignment, employees may be required to possess a valid Florida Driver License at time of employment. Driving history will be thoroughly reviewed and may be grounds for disqualification.
  • No visible tattoos on face, head, and neck. Tattoos determined to take away from the professional appearance of the Sheriff's Office must be covered with an appropriate white, black, or neutral covering.
  • No illegal drug sale within lifetime.
  • No illegal drug use within the past 36 months. No marijuana use within the last 12 months.
  • No felony convictions within lifetime.
  • No misdemeanor convictions involving perjury, false statement, or domestic violence within lifetime.
  • No dishonorable discharge from any branch of the United States Armed Forces, the United States Coast Guard, National Guard, or Reserve Forces.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation including criminal, reference, employment, and neighborhood checks; polygraph; medical evaluation; and drug screening.
