About Position

As part of the Application Development team within the Information Services Division (ISD) write and maintain .NET applications that touch all parts of the Sheriff’s Office to include law enforcement, detention, human resources, finance, and integration with agency criminal justice partners.
 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain web and client solutions.
  • Work with end users to analyze requirements and create application design documents and procedures.
  • Uphold and assist in the evolution of development standards for the enterprise.
  • Apply and improve development practices and processes in the creation of enterprise-level applications and services.
  • Participate in code reviews of application developers’ work.
  • Mentor the application developers on the team.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of application development.
  • Considerable knowledge of C Sharp (C#), Active Server Pages.NET Model/View/Controller (ASP.NET MVC), Transact-Structured Query Language (T-SQL), Razor, (Hypertext Markup Language version 5 (HTML5), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JavaScript.
  • Working knowledge of user interface (UI) Frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of source code control.
  • Working knowledge of Object Oriented Design (OOD) and the software development lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of source code control.
  • Working knowledge of T-SQL and database design.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and quickly debug issues.
  • Ability to utilize OOD and the software development lifecycle.

Required Minimum Education & Experience

  • A high school diploma or possession of a GED certificate.
  • Nine years of paid experience in planning, designing, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting client server applications in an enterprise environment using C# and Active Server Pages.NET (ASP.NET).
  • Seven years of experience with ASP.NET MVC.
  • Seven years of experience in front-end web development with Razor, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Seven years of experience using OOD, coding standards, and the software development lifecycle.
  • Five years of experience with T-SQL and database design.
OR
  • An associate's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a technical field.
  • Eight years of paid experience in planning, designing, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting client server applications in an enterprise environment using C# and ASP.NET.
  • Six years of experience with ASP.NET MVC.
  • Six years of experience in front-end web development with Razor, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Six years of experience using OOD, coding standards, and the software development lifecycle.
  • Four years of experience with T-SQL and database design.
OR
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a technical field.
  • Seven years of paid experience in planning, designing, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting client server applications in an enterprise environment using C# and ASP.NET.
  • Five years of experience with ASP.NET MVC.
  • Five years of experience in front-end web development with Razor, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Five years of experience using OOD, coding standards, and the software development lifecycle.
  • Three years of experience with T-SQL and database design.
OR
  • Five years of experience in a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Information Services Division position.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Experience with testing environments (e.g., unit, functional, integration, regression, acceptance testing).
  • Experience with creating and consuming web services.
  • Experience in extract, transform, load (ETL) development with Structured Query Language (SQL) Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience in report development with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Experience with large-scale custom code integration of third party applications.
  • Experience with Agile software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to demonstrate web design capabilities.

Additional Job Requirements

  • Attendance at the specified Sheriff's Office work location is required.
  • Depending on assignment, employees may be required to possess a valid Florida Driver License at time of employment. Driving history will be thoroughly reviewed and may be grounds for disqualification.
  • No visible tattoos on face, head, and neck. Tattoos determined to take away from the professional appearance of the Sheriff's Office must be covered with an appropriate white, black, or neutral covering.
  • No illegal drug sale within lifetime.
  • No illegal drug use within the past 36 months. No marijuana use within the last 12 months.
  • No felony convictions within lifetime.
  • No misdemeanor convictions involving perjury, false statement, or domestic violence within lifetime.
